Career
He graduated from the Drama Centre in 1975,and began working as an acting assistant stage manager at the York Theatre Royal, making his acting debut in "Wait Until Dark". Following a short period of time,he was selected to play the role of McCabe in the première of "The Red Devil Battery Sign". Following good reviews in 1977 he was picked to appear in the play "Filumena" opposite Frank Finlay and Joan Plowright.
His career continued by making brief appearances in classic British films such as "The Long Good Friday" (1980) and "The Mirror Crack'd" (1980).In tangent to film roles, he also appeared in several television roles such as "The Professionals", "Murphy's Stroke", and "Play for Today".
He continued his career in the US, where he became a television star,with his leading role in the popular miniseries "Manions of America".He was also nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actor in 1985 for his portrayal of Robert Gould Shaw II.During this period he also secured the lead role in the American Tv series "Remington Steele" which ran from 1982-1987.
After Remington Steele ended in 1987, Brosnan pursued his film career and went on to appear in several films, including "The Fourth Protocol" (1987), "The Deceivers" and "Noble House" both in (1988), and The Lawnmower Man (1992).In 1993 he played a supporting role in the comedy film "Mrs Doubtfire", appearing alongside Robin Williams.Brosnan also appeared in several television films, including Death Train (1993) and Night Watch (1995).
He appeared as James Bond from 1995-2004, appearing in 4 bond films.Brosnan was the fifth actor to play Bond.He signed a three-film Bond deal with the option of a fourth and fulfilled his contract along with the option. The first, 1995's "GoldenEye", grossed US $350 million worldwide.He returned in 1997's "Tomorrow Never Dies" and 1999's "The World Is Not Enough", which were also successful. In 2002, Brosnan appeared for his fourth time as Bond in Die Another Day, receiving mixed reviews but was a success at the box office.
During his time as Bond he also formed a film production company entitled "Irish DreamTime".Three years later the company's first studio project, "The Thomas Crown Affair", was released and met both critical and box office success.He continued his film career after leaving the Bond franchise.
