Paloma Faith (Paloma Faith Blomfield) was born on 21 July 1981 in London, England. She is an English singer, songwriter and actor whose music is generally described as pop and soul with retro stylistic influences. Faith is notable for a sequence of UK top 10 albums and singles from the late 2000s onwards, as well as award recognition for her recordings.

Faith trained in performance and worked across dance, theatre and film before focusing on a music career. She released her debut studio album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, in 2009. The record produced singles including “Stone Cold Sober” and “New York” and established her as a distinctive vocalist within UK mainstream pop. Her early touring and media appearances built a reputation that supported further chart success.

Her commercial peak arrived in the 2010s. Faith’s second album, Fall to Grace (2012), entered the UK Albums Chart at number two and included the single “Picking Up the Pieces”. Her third album, A Perfect Contradiction (2014), became her first UK number one album and produced one of her best-known songs, “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”. Across this period, her recordings received broad radio play and accumulated significant UK certifications, and she was nominated in major categories at British music awards.

In the later 2010s and 2020s, Faith continued releasing new material and balancing music with acting and television work. Her albums The Architect (2017) and Infinite Things (2020) extended her run of UK chart entries and supported arena and theatre tours. She also appeared as a coach on the television programme The Voice UK, reflecting a continued public profile beyond recording.

Faith’s catalogue includes multiple platinum-certified albums in the UK, and she has received BRIT Award nominations and recognition at the Music Week Women in Music Awards. Her long-term influence is often linked to her ability to integrate classic soul aesthetics with contemporary pop songwriting. By maintaining both recording and screen work, she has remained a visible figure in British popular music across more than a decade.
