Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on 4 September 1981 in Houston, Texas. She is an American singer, songwriter, and performer, widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of her generation. Beyoncé first rose to prominence in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B group Destiny’s Child.

Destiny’s Child achieved major commercial success with albums such as The Writing’s on the Wall (1999) and Survivor (2001), producing chart-topping singles including “Say My Name”, “Independent Women Part I”, and “Survivor”. The group became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time before entering an extended hiatus in the early 2000s.

Beyoncé launched her solo career with the release of her debut album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003. The album was a critical and commercial success, featuring hit singles such as “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy”, and earned her five Grammy Awards. She continued to release successful albums throughout the 2000s, including B’Day (2006) and I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), which produced the global hit “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”.

In the 2010s, Beyoncé further solidified her artistic reputation with critically acclaimed albums such as 4 (2011), Beyoncé (2013), and Lemonade (2016). These releases were noted for their innovative visual presentations and exploration of personal and social themes. She continued to achieve commercial success while expanding her influence beyond music.

Beyoncé has received numerous awards and honours throughout her career, including a record-breaking number of Grammy Awards, making her the most awarded artist in Grammy history. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide and has been recognised for her impact on music, culture, and popular performance.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Beyoncé remains a dominant force in the global music industry. Her work continues to shape contemporary pop and R&B music and inspire artists worldwide.
