Little Mix are a British pop group formed in England in 2011. Originally comprising Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall, they became the first group to win The X Factor in the UK. Known for vocal harmony-based pop with elements of R&B and dance-pop, they achieved sustained chart success through the 2010s and became one of the most prominent British pop acts of their generation.

The group was assembled during the eighth series of The X Factor, initially competing under different configurations before forming as Little Mix. Following their victory, they released the debut single ‘Wings’ in 2012, which reached number one in the UK and led into their first album, DNA (2012). Early releases established a template built around strong vocal performances and contemporary pop production, and their early touring and promotional activity rapidly expanded their audience.

Little Mix’s peak commercial era spanned the mid-2010s into the early 2020s. The single ‘Black Magic’ became a major UK number-one hit in 2015, and albums including Get Weird (2015) and Glory Days (2016) delivered further chart-topping results. Glory Days produced one of their best-known singles, ‘Shout Out to My Ex’, and later work included collaborations and hits such as ‘Woman Like Me’. The group’s public identity also broadened into fashion, media appearances, and high-profile live productions, supporting international touring and strong album sales.

In later years, the group released Confetti (2020) and continued chart activity while managing changes in membership. Jesy Nelson departed in 2020, after which Edwards, Pinnock, and Thirlwall continued as a trio. In 2021, Little Mix announced plans for a hiatus following their next phase of activity, alongside continued releases and performances. Members subsequently pursued individual projects while the group’s catalogue continued to receive significant streaming and radio play.

Little Mix are estimated to have sold over 75 million records worldwide. Their honours include multiple Brit Awards, and in 2021 they became the first girl group in 41 years to win the Brit Award for British Group. They have also set several Guinness World Records and remain a reference point for UK pop groups of the 2010s, with long-term influence reflected in their chart achievements, live reputation, and continued popularity across international markets.
