Rita Ora is the stage name of Rita Sahatçiu Ora, born 26 November 1990 in Pristina (in what is now Kosovo). She is a British singer, songwriter and actress, and she holds British and Kosovar citizenship. Associated mainly with pop and R&B, she is notable for a run of UK hit singles from the early 2010s onwards and for becoming one of the most frequent UK Top 10 artists of her generation.

Ora moved to London as a child and trained in performance, including at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. Her early work included guest appearances and recordings before her first major chart breakthrough. In 2012 she reached number one in the UK as the featured artist on DJ Fresh’s “Hot Right Now”, a success that led into her own releases. Her debut album, Ora (2012), entered at number one on the UK Albums Chart and produced the UK number-one singles “R.I.P.” and “How We Do (Party)”.

Ora’s peak chart visibility spans the 2012–2018 period, during which she accumulated a long sequence of hit singles. She became the first British female solo artist to achieve 13 UK Top 10 singles, reflecting sustained radio and streaming presence across multiple release cycles. Her second studio album, Phoenix (2018), included Top 10 singles such as “Your Song”, “Anywhere” and “Let You Love Me”, reinforcing her status as a consistent UK chart performer.

In the later stages of her career, Ora continued to combine music releases with television and film work. She released the album You & I in 2023, adding to a discography that also includes frequent collaborations with other pop and dance artists. Her output in this period has included singles designed for both solo promotion and joint projects, maintaining her profile across pop, dance and soundtrack contexts.

Comprehensive worldwide sales totals for Rita Ora are not stated consistently in public reference sources, but her UK chart record is well documented. Her honours include the Brit Awards’ Billion Award from the British Phonographic Industry in 2023, marking the scale of her streaming and sales impact in the UK market.
