Kylie Minogue (born 28 May 1968) is an Australian singer and actress, born in Melbourne, Victoria. She is primarily associated with pop and dance-pop music and has sustained an international career spanning several decades. Minogue is notable for achieving major chart success in multiple eras, particularly in the late 1980s and again in the early 2000s, and for maintaining a prominent live and recording career into the 2020s.

Minogue first became widely known as an actress through the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, where she played Charlene Robinson. Her music career began soon after, and she achieved rapid international success with early singles including “The Loco-Motion” and “I Should Be So Lucky”. Her self-titled debut album Kylie (1988) established her as a mainstream pop artist, and she continued releasing hit material through the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Her peak commercial period broadened as she developed a stronger dance-pop identity. In the late 1990s she released Impossible Princess (1997), which marked a more experimental phase, before returning to global chart dominance with Fever (2001). The single “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” became an international success and helped define her early 2000s profile. Subsequent albums such as Body Language (2003) and X (2007) sustained her chart presence, while her tours became known for high production values and a strong emphasis on dance performance.

In later years, Minogue continued to evolve stylistically, releasing albums including Aphrodite (2010), Kiss Me Once (2014), Golden (2018) and Disco (2020). She released Tension (2023), which included the single “Padam Padam”, and she won a Grammy Award in 2024 for that recording. Alongside music, she has continued occasional acting work and maintained a strong profile in international media and live performance.

Minogue has sold over 80 million records worldwide and is frequently cited among the most successful Australian recording artists. She has received major honours including Brit Awards and Grammy Awards, and she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2008 for services to music. Her long-term influence is associated with the development of modern dance-pop, and her catalogue continues to attract audiences across generations.
