Gabrielle (born Gabrielle Susanne Kerke, 19 July 1969, London, England) is an English singer-songwriter associated with R&B, soul and pop. She emerged in the early 1990s with a style combining melodic pop hooks and contemporary R&B production. Gabrielle is notable for a series of UK chart hits and for sustained success across multiple decades.

She grew up in London and began singing in her teens, later performing in local venues and recording early material. Her breakthrough came with the single “Dreams” (1993), which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. The song led into her debut album Find Your Way (1993), which established her as a major UK artist and produced additional singles including “Going Nowhere”.

Gabrielle’s peak period continued through the mid-to-late 1990s and into the early 2000s. The album Rise (1999) marked a significant commercial high point, with the title track becoming a major hit and reaching number one in the UK. She followed this era with further charting albums and singles, including Out of Reach (2001), which was closely associated with the film Bridget Jones’s Diary and became one of her best-known later songs. Her work during this period was recognised through major UK industry awards, including a Brit Award.

From the mid-2000s onwards Gabrielle continued releasing studio albums and touring, while also revisiting her earlier catalogue in live settings. Albums such as Always (2007) and Under My Skin (2018) reflected a continued focus on soul-influenced songwriting and contemporary pop production. She maintained a steady public profile through television appearances and festival performances, alongside new recordings and reissues of earlier work.

Gabrielle’s record sales include multiple platinum certifications in the UK, particularly for her 1990s and early-2000s releases. Her best-known songs remain widely broadcast and frequently included in retrospective collections of British R&B and pop. She is often referenced as a key figure in bringing contemporary R&B vocal styles into the UK mainstream during the 1990s, and her catalogue continues to attract listeners through radio, streaming and live performance.
