Dua Lipa (born 22 August 1995, London, England) is an English singer and songwriter of Kosovar Albanian heritage. Her music is primarily pop, with prominent disco and dance influences. She emerged in the late 2010s as one of the leading international pop artists of her generation, noted for a run of high-charting singles and award-winning albums.

Lipa spent part of her childhood in Kosovo before returning to London as a teenager to pursue music. She built early attention through online cover versions and began releasing original material after signing a recording contract in the mid-2010s. Early singles such as “Be the One” and “Hotter than Hell” established her in European charts, and her self-titled debut album, Dua Lipa (2017), produced breakthrough hits including “New Rules”, which became her first UK number one single.

Her peak commercial period expanded across the late 2010s and early 2020s. Lipa scored major chart success with collaborations including “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris and “Electricity” with Silk City, and she won Grammy Awards and multiple Brit Awards during this phase. Her second album, Future Nostalgia (2020), moved strongly towards disco-pop and dance-pop, producing internationally successful singles such as “Don’t Start Now” and “Levitating” and becoming one of the defining pop releases of its period.

In the 2020s she continued recording, touring and collaborating across pop and dance music. Projects included “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” with Elton John and the soundtrack single “Dance the Night”, which became widely used in connection with the film Barbie. She released her third studio album, Radical Optimism (2024), continuing a style rooted in pop songwriting with dance-oriented production and live performance as a central focus of her career.

Lipa’s recordings have achieved multi-platinum certifications internationally and accumulated large-scale global streaming figures. Her honours include Grammy Awards and Brit Awards recognising both album and single success. She is widely associated with the modern revival of disco-influenced pop and has influenced the sound and visual presentation of mainstream pop in the late 2010s and 2020s.
