Jess Glynne
Jess Glynne (born Jessica Hannah Glynne on 20 October 1989 in London, England) is an English singer and songwriter associated with pop and dance-influenced music. She is notable for a run of UK chart-topping singles in the 2010s and for setting a UK chart record for the most number one singles by a British female solo artist.
Glynne’s early career developed through songwriting and featured vocal performances before she achieved major public recognition in 2014. Her breakthrough came via collaborations including Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” and Route 94’s “My Love”, both of which reached number one in the UK, establishing her voice as a prominent feature of UK dance-pop at the time.
Her peak success combined collaboration hits with solo releases. “Rather Be” received the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, and Glynne extended her UK number one run with solo singles such as “Hold My Hand” and “Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself”. Her debut album I Cry When I Laugh was released in 2015 and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, supported by multiple top-ten singles.
Glynne continued releasing music through the late 2010s and 2020s, including the number one album Always In Between (2018). She released her third studio album, Jess, in April 2024, reflecting a later-career phase that included new collaborators and label arrangements while maintaining her established pop-focused songwriting.
Glynne’s legacy is closely linked to her UK chart record: Official Charts reported that her seventh UK number one single extended her record for the most chart-toppers by a British female artist. Alongside sustained radio presence and major award nominations, this run has secured her lasting recognition within 2010s British pop and dance music.
