Joan Armatrading signed Cd, along with a with a confirment of Joan's honary degree on the 25/06/2008 from Glasgow university. It was signed in person on the day when Joan was awarded her degree. It was a by invitation only event for selected guests. A rare and unique item of Joan Armatrading memorabilia. The Cd that was signed was her 2007 album "Into The Blues".

Joan Armatrading Bibliography

Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading, MBE, was born 9 December 1950 and is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. As a three-time Grammy Award-nominee, Armatrading was nominated twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. She also received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection in 1996. In a recording career spanning 40 years, Armatrading has released 18 studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations.

Into The Blues Album

Her 2007 album" Into the Blues" debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard Blues Chart, making Armatrading the first UK female artist to earn that distinction. Into the Blues, which Armatrading called "the CD I've been promising myself to write for a long time", was nominated for a Grammy Award, also making her the first female UK artist to be nominated in the Grammy Blues category. It is this Cd that has been signed.

Into the Blues was the 16th studio album by Joan Armatrading and was, released on 1 May 2007. The album was recorded by Armatrading at Bumpkin Studios, her own purpose built studios. It was the first of a trilogy of albums by Armatrading each concerned with a specific genre of music. She wrote and produced three albums focused on blues, rock and jazz music.
