Rugby World Cup 2007;

The 2007 Rugby World Cup was the sixth Rugby World Cup, after the inaugural one in 1987. Twenty nations competed for the Webb Ellis Cup, which was hosted by France from 7 September to 20 October. The competition consisted of 48 matches over 44 days; 42 matches were played in 10 cities throughout France, as well as 4 in Cardiff, Wales, and 2 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The eight quarter-finalists from 2003 were granted automatic entry, while 12 other nations gained entry through qualifying competitions,with Portugal being the only World Cup debutant. 
England had a third consecutive World Cup win against Australia, following victories in the 1995 quarter-final and 2003 Final, and gave them a 3-2 head-to-head winning World Cup record against the Wallabies.
The competition opened with a match between hosts France and Argentina on 7 September in Paris and finished with the final match between England and South Africa on 20 October, which South Africa won by 15 points to 6, their second World Cup title.
