Michael Vaughan Bibliography.

Michael Paul Vaughan OBE was born 29 October 1974 and is an English cricket commentator and former cricketer, who played all forms of the game and a former English captain in all formats. He represented Yorkshire in the domestic game.

He was ranked one of the best batsmen in the world following the 2002/03 Ashes, in which he scored 633 runs, including three centuries. He was an opening batsman and forged a successful England partnership with Marcus Trescothick, though he often batted in the middle order for England.

He was the captain of the England team when they regained the Ashes in 2005, eighteen years after having last won the trophy. He captained England in 51 Tests between 2003 and 2008, winning 26 and losing 11. He won all seven home Tests of the 2004 summer under his leadership, and the pinnacle of his captaincy career came with a 2–1 victory in the 2005 Ashes, England's first Ashes victory since 1986/87.

However, a recurring knee injury, his decision to move down the batting order to accommodate other opener and the pressures of captaincy took their toll on his batting during the latter part of his career. When he wasn't captain he averaged 50.95, and 36.02 as captain. He finally announced his retirement from first-class cricket on 30 June 2009.

Darren Gough Bibliography

Darren Gough was born 18 September 1970 and is a retired English cricketer and former captain of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The spearhead of England's bowling attack through much of the 1990s, he is England's second highest wicket-taker in one-day internationals with 234, and took 229 wickets in his 58 Test matches, making him England's ninth most successful wicket-taker.

He was a right arm fast bowler and right-handed batsman. His height of 1.80 m (5' 11") and broad beam, meant he achieved his pace from a good approach to the wicket and a leaping sideways-on action, achieving what was often described as "skiddy" fast bowling. He was capable of swinging the ball late, a large number of his wickets were gained through lbw or bowled, often with an inswinging yorker delivery.

He retired at the end of the 2008 cricket season with Justin Langer as his final first-class wicket. He commented to Langer after his final match "I am happy to finish with an Aussie in my pocket.". He retired on a high being regarded as a model professional and a Yorkshire legend.
